My dad had a '66 green 2000 MkI, a midnight blue 2000MkII, and then a
French Blue 2500TC. I remember them all well from the exhaust burble of
the six to the corrosion that used on the wheelarches and bootlid!
unfortunately they have all gone to the scrapyard by now, I fear.
However, I have tried to keep a Triumph going in the family by buying a
'75 Stag MkII last year (120,000 miles, 11 owners!!) with quite a lot to
do on it. I hope I'll solve the electrical problems I have inherited so
I can take it out this summer. I'd be interested to hear from any other
Stag owners, as we don't appear to be on the net from what I've seen so
far. Hello to all other Triumph owners around the world and thanks to

Between my father and I we have had every version of the Mark 2 (1973
2000;1971 2.5 PI; 1975 2500TC; 1978 2500S)all Australian built AMI
models. In retrospect we were real masochists to persevere with these
machines, I spent hours fixing the jolly things. Still there is still
the original '73 2000 in the parent's my garage in Australia when I get
a tinge of nostalgia, but otherwise I will stick with my Honda Prelude,
which is the sweetest machine around. David Love

Howdy, nice to see that the page is going strong. I have a 75 PI which
has done around 225000kms. The only modification is the addition of a
transistorised ignition (highly recommended). My brother has a dolomite
1850 MOD and my dear old mum has an auto Dolomite (in mint condition) of
which she is the second owner. A friend of mine has done some fairly
severe working of his PI. Race crankshalf, ported head, EFI/turbo
charger, and improved suspension. It looks like a standard old triumph
sitting on the road (not even alloy wheels) but will go to reline in top
gear overdrive at around 140 MPH. It gets there in an awful hurry as
well!! One of the car museum's here in town has a 1967 2000 with only
7000 mls on the clock.

I own a 1980 Spitfire 1500 with less than 50,000 true miles. It was
built for the U.S. market. It is in storage now, wrapped and tucked away
in our back yard for the winter. It is in pretty good running order, but
needs a few small things like hand brake cables, auto choke is acting up
etc. Body-wise the car is in very good shape, a small bit of rust
showing through but nothing serious. We will probably sell it in the
spring if anyone is interested, we would love to hear from you.

Hi, my family is the owner of a 1974 Triumph 2500TC Auto. It has been
the best car that we have owned. It drives like a dream and even better
now that we have changed the manual steering to a power assisted unit.
It gets driven everywhere and the whole family prefer it to our more
modern Ford. We are presently looking for another one for me to drive.
If we do this we will sell the Ford and be glad to be rid of it! If i
could remember my E-mail address I would leave it for you but as I am at
University at the moment I cannot find out. As soon as I have itI will
send you my address as I am intersted in keeping in touch. Great to see

favourite car of the family, It is ten years older than our Ford and it

Almost 2 years ago I bought a cheap 1975 Triumph 2500TC MkII as I needed
a car and couldn't afford anything newer then. We got it as "just to get
from A to B" kind of car thinking we would get something "better"later,
but now we love it and it is here to stay ! I had to have new piston
rings put in once the clock went past the 200000km mark, but after the
engine rebuild about 20000km ago it never broke down again and with a
lot of TLC it now runs really well (thanks to one very good Triumph
specialist garage and to my thinning wallet..). It leaks in the front
after heavy rain and it drives me mad as I just can't fix it, but I
wouldn't swap !

Hi I have a Signal Red 1977 Manual O/D Triumph 2000 which has completed
234,500 kms. I use it for every day transport and have owned it for 4
years. The car has completed 85,000 kms over that period. I find it very
practical transport and keep it maintained to a high standard. In NZ
there are still a lot of Triumph 2000/2500/2.5 series cars still on the
road so parts are easly available. The only modifications I have done is
to fit power steering and a smaller steering wheel to give the car
better feel for the type of driving I do. We have the pleasure of
personalised car registration plates in NZ so of course my Triumph wears
the plate "GARY B" Regards Gary B

Hi Triumph owners! I once owned the first Triumph 2000 imported into
Australia in 1964, Forest green, very pale green top with matching
interior. Always regretted selling it. Now have a '76 2500TC and have
just bought son a '77 2500S. The TC is bright yellow and I've just
finished refurbishing it, it's like new now. I'm interested in anything
technical re Triumphs and have made a few modifications to make mine
easier to tune and service like spin on oil filter adapter, mixture
adjusters accessable from top of carbies, removeable tubes to listen to
balance without dismantling anything. I'd like to hear any other ideas.

MGCs have a 5 bolt PCD and therefore will not fit the T2000, the same

Hi I've been running a pimento red,'75 "facelift" PI as an everyday car
for 10 years now, including 4 years as a student. I also now have a Stag
(also pimento) fitted with a fuel injected Rover V8 which makes the PI
feel sluggish. My first 6 cylinder Triumph was a mimosa yellow 2500 S. I
received that car plus £15 in exchange for a Dolomite 1500 HL because
the Dolomite had a full tank of fuel. After a lot of hard work I ran it
for about 2 years, totally reliably, before acquiring the PI. In my
family there is also a '72 2.5 PI estate which is currently reaching the
end of a major body restoration. It is good to see so much interest in
these cars on this site, especially from outside the UK. Keep up the
good work.

Currently working on a web page for the club including complete coverage

are welcomed - send them in!) and information for the page. Later will
be accepting information, stories, etc. for the newsletter. Send in ANY
and ALL pertaining information. The Club will be available to other
British and European car enthusiasts, but first we want to get the
